Dr Guyan Sloane from the University of Essex has contacted the LMC regarding the Casting Away Trauma (previously Angling for Good) project being run by the University and iCARP CIC.
The project is funded by NIHR (NHS Research) and its aim is to investigate a nature-based, social activity (angling) as a means of helping military veterans, blue light service personnel and bus/train drivers deal with PTSD symptoms and other after-effects of trauma exposure. They are currently recruiting for this project and would like your help promoting their study within your practice.
Participating involves attending a two-day, one-night fishing trip and completing a series of online questionnaires to assess the impact of the fishing trip. The trip, food and the fishing are all provided absolutely free of charge.
More information about the project and how to join is available on the University webpage at: https://www.essex.ac.uk/research-projects/a-nature-based-intervention-to-improve-mental-health. This is the final year of a three year project and this is a final push to fill the remaining spots.
