Recognising Professionals As Victims Of Domestic Abuse – A Good Practice Guide

More professionals than ever before are being referred to Domestic Abuse services by third parties, rather than coming forward themselves. In some cases, when a professional discloses Domestic Abuse to their manager, appropriate action is not always taken.

Professionals and those working in Domestic Abuse services face unique challenges if they become victims. Employers have a duty of care to support employees experiencing Domestic Abuse. With one in five people experiencing such abuse, both abusers and victims can be part of our communities and workplaces. Therefore, it is important to respond to both.

A small working group has been formed to provide guidance and raise awareness of pathways for professionals accessing Domestic Abuse services. The Supporting professionals experiencing domestic abuse – A good practice guide has been developed in partnership and is also available on the SETDAB website.
