Interpreting and Translation services  – East of England Region – FURTHER REMINDER OF NEW CONTRACT AND TRAINING SESSIONS

Further to the below message announced on October 11, 2021, regarding the new regional interpreting and translation services contract which has been set up for practices to use since 1st November; and the training sessions associated with this, it appears that there has been confusion in some quarters over which provider is providing which service. To remind you, DA Languages are now providing spoken languages services; and Language Empire are providing non-spoken languages services. All bookings for interpreting and translation services should now only be made with one of these providers, as appropriate.

We also understand that there has still been a relatively low attendance at the training sessions which were set up by these providers to explain the new booking processes to you. We are therefore pleased to inform you that we have been advised that further sessions have now been made available as follows:

•             Tuesday 30 November 2021 –  11am to 12pm

•             Tuesday 7 December 2021 – 11am to 12pm

•             Tuesday 14 December 2021 – 11am to 12pm

If you have not already attended a training session, it is highly recommended that you book yourself on one of the above sessions by completing the form available via the following link:

These training sessions will be delivered by representatives from Language Empire (demonstrating how non-spoken services can be accessed) and DA languages (demonstrating how all spoken languages services can be accessed). The training will cover access to both booking portals and the new user service guides.

Should you or your staff have any queries or require support, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the DA Languages Implementation Team on or Language Empire on

Interpreting and Translation services  – East of England Region

NHS England & NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) East of England Region recently undertaken a procurement for a new contract to provide interpreting and translation services across the region (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Suffolk & North East Essex, Mid & South Essex, Herts & West Essex, Norfolk and Waveney and Bedford, Luton & Milton Keynes.  The new contract will include the provision of these services for all Primary Care contractor groups: Dentists, GPs, Optometrists and Pharmacies. However, please note that the new contract will not include Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes GP Practices, although there is a possibility that Bedfordshire & Milton Keynes GP Practices may join this contract in the new year.

This procurement is now complete and the new supplier of interpreting and translation services from 1 November 2021 will be:

DA Languages for spoken languages – Award Winning Translation Agency | DA Languages

Language Empire for non-spoken languages – Language Empire | Empire Group UK (

Both DA Languages and Language Empire are working closely with NHSE&I to ensure a smooth implementation of services from the 1 November 2021. In order to support this process DA Languages and Language Empire will need to make contact with individual primary care contractors to ensure they are able to book services for patients and have access to the training information available. These communications will be sent directly to each contractor either by the providers or via the Primary Care Gateway

A communication will be sent out to all primary care contractors to notify them of the new contract.

NHSE&I are looking for a small cohort of contractors to test the booking portal for both providers. If you know of a practice or pharmacy that would be willing to support implementation by getting involved in testing, please do let me know. We will then pass on the contact details to the providers. – 28th September 2021
